KC Book Beat is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that is all about celebrating and promoting the vibrant literary community in and around Kansas City. We publish a biannual catalog featuring local authors, small businesses, and local literary content. Beyond the catalog, we organize community events, and collaborate with community businesses and organizations.
We bring stories to life and build community around them. Whether you're an author, reader, artist, small business, or just book-curious—there’s a place for you here.
We create meaningful opportunities for local authors to connect with readers through events, catalog features, and community engagement. It’s about visibility, access, and authentic storytelling.
We help bridge the gap between independent authors and local bookstores by fostering relationships and offering exposure through our catalog, vendor events, and curated promotions.
We coordinate school visits, library partnerships, and pop-up events that allow authors to engage directly with the Kansas City community, making literature more accessible and personal.
Writing can be isolating—but it doesn’t have to be. Our workshops, networking events, and creative panels bring authors together to collaborate, grow, and support each other.
