Membership contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. The deductible portion of your membership is limited to the amount that exceeds the fair market value of any benefits received.

KC Book Beat publishes a catalog twice a year. The KC Book Beat catalog is a biannual publication created by the nonprofit KC Book Beat that showcases the heart of Kansas City’s literary scene. It highlights local authors, bookstores, small businesses, and literary events, while also providing resources, collaborations, and opportunities for community engagement

3. Get access Once you join, you'll receive a welcome email with everything you need — how to access member resources, how to use your benefits, and what's coming up for members first.
4. Show up Attend events at member pricing. Apply for vendor booths before anyone else. Get your name in the catalog. Use Story Loft space to host your own thing. The more you show up, the more you get out of it.

What is the beta program?
The beta is our founding launch period. It's how we're introducing membership to the KC Book Beat community before we open it more broadly. Joining during the beta means you lock in the lowest pricing we will ever offer — for life. The beta will run from April 1, 2026-December 31, 2026.
What does "lifetime pricing" mean exactly?
It means your monthly rate never goes up as long as your membership stays active. If you join at $5/month today, you pay $5/month forever. If you cancel and rejoin later, you'll be subject to whatever the current rate is at that time.
Can I upgrade my tier later?
Yes. You can upgrade at any time. Your new rate will also be locked in at whatever the current price is when you upgrade.
What is The Story Loft?
The Story Loft is KC Book Beat's event space, available to Partner members for 3 hours of rental per membership period based on availability. It's a great option for author signings, small workshops, book clubs, or pop-up events.
How do I access member benefits after joining?
You'll receive a welcome email after signing up with instructions for accessing the members-only Facebook group, member resources, and upcoming opportunities. Partner members will also receive information on how to claim their vendor discount, catalog ad, and Story Loft hours.
Is this a recurring charge?
Yes. Membership is billed monthly. You can cancel at any time, though canceling means you lose your locked-in founding member rate if you decide to rejoin later.
