What is the beta program?
The beta is our founding launch period, running April 1 – December 31, 2026. It's how we're introducing membership before we open it more broadly. Joining during the beta means locking in the lowest pricing we will ever offer — for life.
What does "lifetime pricing" actually mean?
Your monthly rate never increases as long as your membership stays active. Join at $5/month today, pay $5/month forever. If you cancel and rejoin later, you'll pay whatever the current rate is at that time.
Can I upgrade my tier later?
Yes. You can upgrade at any time. Your new tier rate will also be locked in at whatever the current price is when you upgrade.
What is The Story Loft?
The Story Loft is KC Book Beat's event space, available to Partner members for 3 hours of rental per membership period based on availability. It's ideal for author signings, book clubs, small workshops, or pop-up events.
How do I access my benefits after joining?
You'll receive a welcome email after signing up with instructions for the members-only Facebook group, member resources, and upcoming opportunities. Partner members will also receive details on claiming their vendor discount, catalog ad, and Story Loft hours.
Is this a recurring charge?
Yes. Membership is billed monthly and you can cancel at any time. Canceling means you lose your locked-in founding member rate if you decide to rejoin later.
What is the KC Book Beat catalog?
The catalog is a biannual print publication showcasing Kansas City's literary scene — local authors, bookstores, small businesses, and events. It's distributed throughout the KC community twice a year. Partner members receive a full-page ad in each issue.
